Theme
Human-Centered AI (HCAI)
General aim
We develop human-centered AI methods that make medical decision support transparent, collaborative, augmentative, and clinically meaningful.
Focus of research
The Human-Centered AI research group at CAIMed develops methods that combine artificial intelligence, data visualization, and human–in-the-loop to support clinically relevant decision models. Our work integrates expert knowledge to explore complex medical data—including medical images, exome and sequencing data, and clinical records and reports—to identify patterns and artifacts and to deepen understanding of AI model behaviour. We generate efficient model suggestions and make AI-based predictions transparent and understandable for clinicians and users. The group’s initial focus lies in oncology, particularly AI-based image and sequence analysis for individualized cancer therapy, with further applications pursued in close collaboration with other CAIMed research groups.
